prereq for .MOD

Postby ltwally » Sun Aug 14, 2016 5:56 pm

I have an ability .MOD that I want to only work when there is a feat.

I have tried
CATEGORY=Special Ability|Celestial Bloodline ~ Heavenly Fire.MOD PREABILITY:1,CATEGORY=Feat,Improved Heavenly Fire

However, this does not work. What do I need to do to require a feat before an ability .MOD is used?

Thanks

.MOD actually changes whatever ability you're looking for globally, that is, for all characters. It gets handled when you load your set of sources. .MOD can't tell whether or not a specific character has a specific feat.

But, you can probably do what you want to do. How do you want the ability to be different when the character has the feat?

As stated .MOD is a global at load change. You cannot change anything with a .MOD on the fly. If you want a Feat required before a class feature is granted, you're looking at quite the mess to be honest. BONUS:VAR|ClassName_CF_ClassFeatureName|1|!PRExxx which will do the same technique as an Archetype. Be warned though, this should not be done lightly as where you decide to use this could profoundly alter ALL characters. I recommend that house rules use templates to enforce these house rules.

Usually best to stated what the desired outcome should be and then we can answer with much better answers. If you tell us what you've done, it locks us into answering from a disadvantage of not knowing what actually is the desired result and circumstances.

Cheers,

I want to replace the description for Pathfinder > Sorcerer > Celestial Bloodline > Heavenly Fire.

We have a couple house feats that strengthen it, thus changing the DESC of it based on whether those feats are present. I'd prefer to do so without editing the core rulebook LST files, if possible.

Thank you for the help.

Use Paul's reply if you want to remove ALL of the DESC.

CATEGORY=Special Ability|Celestial Bloodline ~ Heavenly Fire.MOD
DESC:New Text if you have the Feat here|PREABILITY:1,CATEGORY=Feat,Improved Heavenly Fire
