[Pathfinder] Problem adding proficiency for custom weapon

Postby Areinu » Mon Feb 20, 2017 4:33 pm

1) Is this from a source book, or strictly made up?
It's Inferno Pistol from Iron Gods AP, first book, page 60. The description for the weapon says it's custom Laser Pistol(has different damage values too).

2) What are you trying to accomplish?
I've copied code from Laser Pistol in technology guide, changed details to match Inferno Pistol, added proficiency for Inferno Pistol. I want my Techslinger to detect the proficiency and display correct stats, but currently it shows as Proficient: N, red, stats are decreased.

I am working on homebrew/my_pathfinder_campaign. I've added the code to mpc_equip_general.lst and the proficency code to mpc_profs_weapon.lst. In both cases I copied the code for Laser Pistol from technology_guide in data folder. I only changed damage values, the name, the fluff and I think that was that.

When I'm comparing entry for Laser Pistol in PCgen to the one I made for Inferno Pistol they are virtually the same. Also, the Techslinger character has Inferno Pistol now in generated pdf card, in full listing of proficient weapons. But the calculations in weapon's damage table are as if it was not proficient. The weapon displays in red on Inventory screen, and it's marked as Proficient: N. I want the calculations to be proper and the weapon to be Proficient: Y for the Techslinger.

Okay, so the last thing is needed is to add the proficiency to the character.

AUTO:WEAPONPROF|Inferno Pistol

Something like that.

I cannot get it to work. I tried adding this to mpc_profs_weapon.lst exactly as you wrote, or doing

CLASS:Techslinger.MOD <tab> AUTO:WEAPONPROF|Inferno Pistol
or
CLASS:Gunslinger.MOD <tab> AUTO:WEAPONPROF|Inferno Pistol

None of them worked.

Also, I think the prof is added to the character. In .pcg file I can see:

WEAPONPROF:[...|WEAPON:Inferno Pistol|...]

I didn't add that entry myself, it got added automatically. But the pistol still appears as red, non-proficient.

Send your files zipped to help@pcgen.org.

Also, CLASS:xxx.MOD only works in a class file

I suspect your weapon is lacking the proficiency.

That was it! So simple yet I overlooked it. I wrongly put PROFICIENCY:Firearm instead of PROFICIENCY:Inferno Pistol on my item.

Thank you for help, everything is working 100% fine now :)
