When do we think we'll be able to support 5e?

Have the PHB and am starting a weekly session here in the UK
am aiming to start with Tyranny of Dragons once I can get hold of it

Thoughts and good wishes are welcome here

I haven't looked through the new rules but chances are PCGen will handle them.

As to when PCGen can officially provide 5e data sets, answering that question will need to wait until WotC announces how it will be handling 3rd Party Products. They have said they will let everyone know sometime on 2015.

I believe Andrew has a working set and said he didn't run into any significant issues

5e is easily supported in pcgen. No hiccups at all.

The major issue is the same as 4e, will Wizards of the Coast allow us a license to release data sets with 5e material? Til we know that answer, I can safely say that 5e is supported, but we cannot provide the official books or supplements.

That then falls into our homebrew community and LST monkey helpers. I know if you search, finding what you seek is not hard.

Nylanfs - did you google 'pcgen 5e'? I see on the first page an actual wizards board discussion which mentions us. I wonder how long before this page will be listed.

havedice - comments I can give, what commitments are you looking for?

Was looking for help and advice haven't been involved with testing since 3e

How ever it looks like all of a sudden I have a number of people within say 40 miles who wanna play

I am already committed to moving on separate disparate projects at the mo
but any help with any thing that would increase my preparedness would be really useful

Hi, so I'm a new user of this software, and I'm interested in its use for D&D 5th Edition. I've looked it over, but its missing a lot of options that are needed to make a 5th Edition character (like backgrounds, feats, etc.). Please pardon me for asking as I don't know this, but are there any plans on making the 5th Edition aspects of the program more aligned with what is in the PHB for character creation?

Hi jonstryder,

PCGen fully supports everything 5e. What you've discovered is PCGen is only legally allowed to include the options that are available in a Document called the "SRD5" System Resource Document. You've probably become accustomed to the Player's Handbook pretty closely matching the SRD for 3rd editions, but in this case, Wizard's of the Coast decided that the freely available SRD5 would only include ONE option for each class, feat, background...

Full options exist in the hinterlands of homebrew realm. I'm certain a simple google search including the terms "Pcgen 5e" will turn something up.
